Dads & Lads 2012 - weekend programme


Friday 15th June
2pm  Set up             
Jeff & older lads arrive & start setting up tents

5 pm onwards  Arrival
Dads and Lads arrive and carry on setting up tents.

5.30 pm  BBQ
Bring meat and it can be cooking as you set up.  I’ll bring gas BBQ and an electric grill. Need a couple more - gas or noirmal but not disposables

6.00 pm  Dads vs Lads – Sports
The big football match – proper football pitch on adjacent field.
Can also do tug of war / cricket- depending upon numbers and ages.

7.30 England vs Sweden
The big game on the big screen at Wallingford Baptist Church

10 pm Drinks & Welcome Jeff to explain the theme

11pm : Bed

Saturday 16th June
6am To Wycliffe  Jeff & Phil to take party of boys to Wycliffe to go to Dorney Lakes
8am  Breakfast   Jeff & Phil to bring back cooked breakfast

10am Widegame at Wallingford Castle
We’ll start with an all in organised wide game – please bring some flags – and then allow the boys to play on the slope- bring something to slide down

1230 ish Lunch
Buy your own from Waitrose / fish & chip shops – 2 minute walk from the Castle

Afternoon: Free time
Opportunity for some quality father & son time.  Optional nature trail; Watch South Africa vs England

c.4pm : Swimming
I’ll try and hire the pool just for us- awaiting response

6pm : Tea
Baked Potatoes & Chilli will be delivered from Reading

7pm Hero’s - Phil - Who’s your Hero

8pm: Wittenham Clumps
Wide game & night time adventure around Wittenham Clumps. Ideal for kites, rolling/ sliding down hills etc.  Anyone got night time goggles?

10pm: Drink - boys get ready for bed
11pm Bed

Sunday 17th June

7am  Breakfast  Continental breakfast

8am Final thoughts Phil 

9am  Pack Up  Depending on Weather etc

10am  Father’s Day Feet Up (1)
Half the dads go to  Costa Coffee or Café Bloc; remaining dads organise trip to Cholsey on the Wallingford to Cholsey steam train line

11am Father’s Day Feet Up (2)
Half the dads go to  Costa Coffee or Café Bloc; remaining dads organise a photo treasurehunt around Wallingford 
(not quite sure how those 2 activities will work

12am : Lunch
Buy your own from Waitrose / fish & chip shops – 2 minute walk from the Castle  - and any final packing up

2pm : “I spy walk” Families invited to enjoy  a walk with a difference around Wallingford

4pm: Go home
