Cost & What to bring & Getting there
Cost: £30 - plus a contribution to food - bring a cheque book or cash with you and pay Jeff (not BB)
Packing List: You will be sleeping on a mattress with a pillow so bring a sleeping bag and the usual stuff for a weekend. Plus your walking boots and day walking stuff - this is important - Day Ruck Sack (and liner if its wet) - about 30 litres; waterproofs including over trousers; Waterbottle; head torch; spare layers; survival bag; some energy food; compass.
Getting there - no mini buses were available so you need to arrange your own transport.
Address: Dan Y Gyrn; National Trust; Blaenglyn Farm: Libanus: Brecon: Powys: LD3 8NF (the bunkhouse has no signal)
Directions :
From the A470 (coming from the direction of Brecon). Go through the village of Libanus. Shortly after look out for a left-hand turn. When you see a right-hand turn signposting 'Defynnog' you'll need to turn left. (Sounds confusing but it's the best way to explain). You'll see a little chalk board signed 'NT offices and Dan y Gyrn'. (I'll attempt to add a BB banner as well)
Follow the country lane and continue forward following the sign straight ahead for Dan y Gyrn. Ignore the sign that says 'No vehicles beyond this point'. Continue to the bottom of the track and there you'll see the entrance to Dan y Gyrn.
From the A470 (coming from the direction of Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff). Continue on the A470 past the Storey Arms and head towards the village of Libanus. Look out for the filter lane on the right-hand side opposite the turn to Defynnog and Sennybridge. Take this right turn and follow the lane as instructed above.
