What to Bring
· A helpful & positive attitude. All boys will have to take their turns at cooking, washing up, making packed lunches etc.
· A bike – not all boys will be bringing bikes this year – we’ll arrange this separately- but Helmets will be needed – !
· A rucksack /day sack will be needed – robust enough for….
· A 1 litre water bottle with your name on – last year boys were almost fainting in the heat on the 12 mile walk – carrying enough water is your responsibility ! None is available en route.
· Suitable clothes & footwear for cycling & walking in possibly cold, wet & windy conditions. Gloves, waterproofs etc.
· Ideally an old pair of trainers & clothes for use in the stream/river.
· A sleeping bag - ( You’ll be on a bed –pillows are provided)
· Suitable amount of clothes for 2 days & activities
· Towel/ wash bag (there are showers) & any medication (see below)
· A book , simple board/card games for chill times
· Some snacks for the trips/ at night etc. – Cash for snacks – we’ll be stopping at the services on the way down – but see opposite.
A packed lunch for Friday & a cake to contribute to the group.
What Not to Bring
· Any electricals of any type – no mobiles/ ipods/ DS’s etc– we could stay at home to do that – Leaders have mobiles if contact is needed. Stuff will be confiscated on sight. (Despite this warning one boy last year spent much of the w/e looking for his expensive gadget. Don’t bring it !).
· Any Energy drinks (includes any soft drinks which contains caffeine- eg. Coke, Mountain Dew etc). These are harmful and will be confiscated and binned .
· Excessive soft fizzy drinks & sugar laden sweets – some is fine - lot’s are not and will be confiscated.
We know the boys will have some fun at night-and probably get to sleep later than normal – but night time is primarily for sleeping – these will be high energy
days.
