Badge Award Evening : Wednesday 19th July 2017

Once every four years or so (we're not very good at doing badge awards) we finally work out which boys have earned which badge and award them. However, it did mean we had a lot of badges to present , including 10 Presidents badges (the second highest badge) , 3 DofE Silver awards, and 3 Queen's Badges - the highest badge in BB - and the first Queen's Badges to be presented at 2nd Reading for over 30 years. So well done to Ali, Ben & Gideon who finish at BB this year by gaining these top awards, which were presented by Rob Wilson - who at the time he was asked to come was our local MP and the Minister for Civil Society - a role which Rob performed for 7 years which got him close to volunteer organisations across the UK and he was instrumental in the setting up of the NCS (National Citizenship Service) which some of the lads are also doing. Although an unexpected election and result intervened Rob was kind enough to still come along and present the awards. We were also joined for the evening by Tony Champion who is the President of our BB Battalion, Reading & District.   Let's hope we can make them an annual event going forward.
